Job summary

Airgas is hiring for a Cylinder Prep Tech in Chicago, IL. The Plant Operator - Cylinder Prep role processes and prepares gas cylinders for new production, sorting by size, using manifolds and vacuum pumps, scraping and painting, and moving cylinders safely with a forklift.

The position offers first shift Tuesday to Friday 4:30 AM–3:00 PM, hourly rate of $23–$26, a 5% gainshare bonus, and a $1000 retention bonus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of hands-on manufacturing or processing experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
• Forklift experience and the ability to operate safely.

Responsibilities

• Sort cylinders by size and service.
• Assist with manifolds and vacuum pumps for cylinder prep.
• Scrape and paint cylinders and perform valve maintenance as needed.
• Move cylinders safely using forklift and handcart.
• Perform pre-fill inspections of cylinders and valves.
