Job summary

Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. is seeking a cylinder inspector at our Alpha, NJ location. The role involves inspecting cylinders before filling, conducting conversions, and operating testers to ensure safety and compliance.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to lift up to 70 lbs. Prior gas industry experience is a plus, and forklift operation is required.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience in the gas industry or cylinder maintenance is preferred.
• Able to lift and handle up to 40–70 lbs.
• Mechanical inclination with a strong, self-motivated work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and physical inspections on cylinders before filling to determine retesting or repairs.
• Conduct cylinder conversions, including de-valving, valving, stripping, and repairing valves.
• Operate hydrostatic and ultrasonic cylinder testers.
• Maintain certifications to properly certify cylinders as retested.
• Operate a forklift to support material handling and movement of cylinders.
• Receive incoming cylinders, diagnose and repair neck leaks and safety-related leaks.
• Inspect and identify defective cylinders, scrap when appropriate.
• Perform painting, housekeeping, and light plant maintenance for a safe environment.
