Job summary

Airgas is hiring a Production Associate (Cylinder Filler) at the South Plainfield, NJ plant. The role requires safely handling and filling gas cylinders and performing routine safety checks, with a focus on compliance to DOT, FDA, OSHA and Airgas standards.

The position involves loading/unloading cylinders, operating forklifts and pallet jacks, maintaining quality control records, and ensuring proper labeling and color-coding. A high school diploma or GED and mechanical aptitude are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical aptitude required.
• Preferred: experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Preferred: basic math and measurement conversion skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and fill gas products into liquid, medical and high pressure cylinders in compliance with regulations and Airgas SOPs.
• Perform safety checks per procedures, including odor tests and cap/valve checks.
• Maintain accurate records to DOT, FDA, OSHA and Airgas standards.
• Load and unload cylinders on/off pallets and tractors.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.
• Attach cylinders to manifolds, evacuate and fill by pressure and weight.
• Verify labels and color-coding on cylinders.
