Job summary

SOFIE is seeking a Cyclotron Engineer I in Romeoville, IL, to ensure safe operation, maintenance, and repair of cyclotron systems and related PET manufacturing equipment. The role includes first-line troubleshooting, coordination with contractors, and on-call support.

The position requires 2+ years of cyclotron experience or an associate degree in a technical discipline, with travel up to 20% and strong problem-solving skills. Compensation ranges from $90k to $100k annually.

Qualifications

2+ years cyclotron experience or an Associate Degree in a technical discipline.
Strong knowledge of digital and analog circuitry.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
Experience diagnosing and repairing equipment failures.
Willingness to travel up to 20%.
Knowledge of radiation safety and cGMP practices.

Responsibilities

Operate cyclotron(s) according to proper operating procedures (night/weekend shifts).
Perform routine, non-routine, scheduled, and emergency maintenance on cyclotron(s).
Document cyclotron operations and maintenance logs per work instructions.
Plan accelerator maintenance activities with Tech Services management.
Diagnose and repair electronic, HV, RF, and related systems.
Provide first-line on-site support for PET manufacturing equipment.
Oversee third-party contractor work with Facility Manager.
Perform radiation safety duties under EH&S program standards.
Provide technical training and after-hours on-call support.
Submit all work tickets, time cards, and expense reports.
