How this role contributes to the Y’s mission: As a Y Group Exercise Instructor, you’ll be an important part of a mission-driven, charitable organization that helps children, adults, families, and communities achieve more in all aspects of life. The Group Exercise Instructor provides quality instruction and supervision to Y members and participants by teaching safe and functionally challenging classes that promote total fitness development and support a greater sense of well-being. You’ll help more people stay active and connected to positive community life by providing a fun, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that promotes group interaction, exercise and a sense of belonging.

This work is right for you if you have:

  1. A love of fitness and people
  2. A desire to help & encourage others to have fun with fitness
  3. A nationally recognized accredited group exercise certification required (ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NETA preferred) or standalone or specialty certification (Les Mills, Zumba, etc.)
  4. The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
