Job summary

Premera is seeking a Threat Response Engineer III on a hybrid basis at our Mountlake Terrace campus. You will act as the spear in investigations, protecting personal and financial data while working within a threat intel and response team.

The role requires strong forensic analysis, incident response, and collaboration across a structured security program. Strong communication skills and a Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of related experience are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; alternative: 4 years of related experience.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting networked computer systems including security aspects.
  • Experience with intrusion detection, defense and incident response, security configuration management and access controls.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to cyber security incidents by using critical thinking and forensic analysis.
  • Identify, respond to, and investigate multiple daily attacks targeting Premera data.
  • Engineer solutions to prevent damaging cyber threats and reduce exposure.
  • Support the Security Awareness Program with clear written and spoken communication to employees.

Our unique combination of medical records and financial data make us an attractive target for cyber criminals, and this position is responsible for protecting that data, identifying potential threats, and conducting investigations into cyber threats. You will respond to cyber security incidents by using critical thinking skills and forensic analysis to ensure that cyber security threats are proactively stopped from the Premera network. These threats include actors from nation state, cyber-criminal organizations, and insider threats. This position also requires an on-call rotation.What you’ll do:As a responder, you will be the ‘Tip of the Spear’ to react to alerts and use your innate hunting and analysis skills to conduct investigations into security threats.Protect Premera data from threat actors looking to gain access to sensitive personal and financial data in a structured team environment.Identify, respond, and investigate the numerous attacks launched daily to gain access to Premera data.Use your innate hunting and analysis skills to conduct investigations into security threats.Personally engineer solutions that will prevent damaging cyber threats that cost organizations hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.Exhibit a passion and tenacity about hunting and preventing cyber threats.What you’ll bring:Required QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or Business Administration, or (4) years of experience.(5) years of experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting networked computer systems including systems integration, hardware requirements and network design planning; and vendor negotiations for hardware and software which must include(3) years of experience with secure network and systems architecture, design and implementation, intrusion detection, defense and incident response, security configuration management, access controls design and implementation, and security policy and standards development.Physical RequirementsThe following have been identified as essential physical requirements of this job and must be performed with or without an accommodation:This is primarily a sedentary role which requires the ability to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.This role requires the ability to keyboard and to communicate clearly and understandably in person and over the telephone.Premera total rewardsOur comprehensive total rewards package provides support, resources, and opportunities to help employees thrive and grow.
