Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is seeking a Cybersecurity and Systems Administration Lead in Charlottesville, VA. This role oversees security, provisioning, and integration of systems across the Arts and Sciences portfolio and guides technical direction without direct reports.

Responsibilities include architecture design for secure distributed computing, policy development, vulnerability management, and cloud & on-premise environment oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
• At least five years of experience; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of secure, distributed computing architectures.
• Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards.
• Administer and monitor system security, including vulnerability management and log analysis.
• Serve as SME on security and systems management toolset.
• Oversee change control, provisioning, and integration across Windows, MacOS, Linux, and cloud environments.
• Review scripts and automation tools to optimize performance and reliability.
• Plan and execute system upgrades, capacity planning and growth analysis.
