Job summary

PACS is seeking a Cybersecurity Specialist to protect information systems, networks, and data from cyber threats in Salt Lake City. You will monitor security events, investigate incidents, and implement controls to strengthen our security posture.

You will collaborate with IT and business teams, run vulnerability scans and risk assessments, and support policy development, incident response, and patch management.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, or related field.
• 2–5+ years of cybersecurity or IT security experience.
• Strong understanding of network security, OS, cloud security, and threat detection.
• Experience with SIEM, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management.
• Scripting familiarity (PowerShell, Python, Bash) is a plus.
• Certifications preferred: Security+, CySA+, CEH, GSEC, SSCP, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Monitor networks, systems, and security tools for suspicious activity and threats.
• Investigate security incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend actions.
• Implement and maintain security controls such as firewalls and IAM.
• Coordinate vulnerability scans, risk assessments, and pen-testing activities.
• Support security training and promote best practices across the organization.
• Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Manage incident response documentation and stakeholder communications.
• Collaborate with IT to ensure secure configurations and patch management.
• Evaluate new security technologies and drive program improvement.
• Support compliance efforts for frameworks like NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, HIPAA.

Job description

The Cybersecurity Specialist is responsible for protecting the organization's information systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. This role monitors security events, investigates incidents, implements security controls, and collaborates with IT and business teams to strengthen the organization's security posture.

• Monitor networks, systems, and security tools for suspicious activity and potential threats.
• Investigate security incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
• Implement and maintain security controls such as firewalls, endpoint protection, identity and access management, and vulnerability management tools.
• Conduct regular vulnerability scans, risk assessments, and penetration testing coordination.
• Support security awareness training and promote best practices across the organization.
• Assist in developing and maintaining security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Manage incident response activities, including documentation and communication with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure system configurations and patch management.
• Evaluate new security technologies and contribute to continuous improvement of the security program.
• Support compliance efforts related to frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, or HIPAA (depending on industry).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• 2-5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security operations, or related technical roles.
• Strong understanding of network security, operating systems, cloud security, and threat detection.
• Experience with SIEM tools, endpoint protection platforms, and vulnerability management solutions.
• Familiarity with scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash) is a plus.
• Relevant certifications preferred: Security+, CySA+, CEH, GSEC, SSCP, or similar.
