Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) offers internships where you learn, research, and contribute to cyber capabilities for national security. You will work on cryptography, embedded systems, offensive security, and testbed deployment alongside engineers and scientists.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across software, hardware, and networks, present findings, and grow while supporting complex missions in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in CS, CE, EE, systems engineering, cybersecurity, maths, or related field.
  • Experience or knowledge in Python, Rust, VHDL, Verilog, C, C++, Java, MATLAB or similar.
  • Backgrounds in cryptography, embedded systems, offensive security, or cyber integration/test/deploy.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA and eligibility for Interim Secret clearance with potential for Top Secret.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to research and development in cryptography, embedded solutions, offensive security, and constrained cyber integration.
  • Identify capability gaps and prototype solutions with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with cyber and engineering professionals and present findings.
