Job summary

University System of Maryland (USM) seeks a Cybersecurity & Privacy Technology Manager to strengthen cybersecurity and privacy across USM institutions. You will guide risk reduction, incident response, and third‑party reviews, reporting to the Chief Information Security and Privacy Officer.

Responsibilities include managing the vulnerability and threat program, coordinating with ISACs/SOCs, and supporting systemwide cybersecurity tools and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible cybersecurity experience with multiple areas.
• Experience in vulnerability management, threat intel, SOC, incident response, third‑party risk, or security tooling.

Responsibilities

• Manage USM Vulnerability and Threat Management Program and monitor relevant feeds.
• Select, implement, and operate vulnerability and threat management tools.
• Assist institutions in addressing vulnerabilities across networks, servers, and endpoints.
• Advise on video surveillance and physical security solutions.
• Draft notices, present findings, and ensure awareness of threats and vulnerabilities.
• Help develop systemwide ISAC/SOC function.
• Provide cybersecurity program support and vendor relationship management.
• Attend and support USM Privacy and Security Councils.
• Provide incident response and forensic assistance; review third‑party security solutions.
