Job Description Cybersecurity Operations Specialist Location: Wakefield, MA Employment Type: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire

A growing consulting and technical services organization is seeking a Cybersecurity Operations Specialist to join its internal technology team. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving the security of a diverse enterprise environment that supports both office-based and remote operations.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on security professional who is comfortable working across infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, compliance initiatives, and end‑user support. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to both day‑to‑day security operations and longer‑term initiatives focused on risk reduction, security maturity, and technology modernization.

This position is well suited for someone who enjoys a broad cybersecurity role and wants exposure to multiple areas of enterprise technology rather than focusing solely on one security discipline.

Required Skills & Experience

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 4+ years of experience supporting information security programs within an enterprise environment
• Experience administering and supporting security technologies across networks, endpoints, and servers
• Working knowledge of firewalls, VPN technologies, routing, switching, and network segmentation
• Experience identifying, investigating, and remediating security vulnerabilities
• Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 administration and security controls
• Experience managing Active Directory and Group Policy environments
• Experience providing technical guidance and support to end users
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational, documentation, and problem‑solving abilities
• Ability to prioritize work effectively in a fast‑paced environment

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience supporting compliance frameworks such as NIST 800‑171, CMMC, SOC 2, or similar standards
• Familiarity with Fortinet, Cisco, or related security and networking technologies
• Experience supporting VMware environments
• Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery platforms such as Veeam
• Understanding of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies
• Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture principles
• Experience conducting security reviews of third‑party applications and vendors
• Security+, Network+, CCNA, ITIL, or related certifications

• Create and maintain technical documentation, policies, and procedures
• Deliver security awareness guidance and support to employees
• Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to the overall security posture
