Job summary

The CERT Security Operations team at Carnegie Mellon University’s SEI seeks an Associate Cybersecurity Operations Researcher to advance capability and mission-focused research in national and international security operations. You will contribute to risk analysis, strategy development, and prototype tool creation to support government and partner organizations.

Ideal candidates will have a CS degree with related cyber operations experience, a track record of publishing, and the ability to travel

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related discipline with three years of experience or MS with one year of experience.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% annually.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and support analytical studies involving risk, threat, and security data.
• Brief strategic and technical topics to senior leadership and diverse audiences.
• Produce clear, well‑structured technical documentation and publications.
• Engage international stakeholders with cultural awareness and professionalism.
• Apply project planning and management methodologies to support program execution.
