Job summary

Compound Eye in Redwood City, CA seeks a Cybersecurity & IT Engineer to own identity, endpoint, network and security practices for a mostly-remote team. You’ll fix access friction, harden policies, audit OAuth grants, and build secure lab environments while enabling engineers to move fast.

Hybrid role with on-site days and occasional travel. Salary $150k–$185k/year, plus ISO stock options, health benefits, and annual home-office stipend.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in IT, systems administration, or security engineering; startup experience preferred.
• Hands-on IT and security work; fix networks and devices, not just paperwork.
• Experience designing/building IT or network infrastructure.
• Administration of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
• Strong Linux, Windows, and macOS familiarity; basic networking with firewalls/VPNs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement improvements to infrastructure from design to rollout and measure outcomes.
• Secure engineer and lab access via Cloudflare Tunnel/Zero Trust Mesh and SSH cert authorities.
• Own identity across Entra ID, Intune, M365 (Defender, Purview, GCC High) and Google Workspace.
• Own email authentication and DNS (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MTA-STS) and Cloudflare certificates.
• Manage device fleet and physical network; define AI tooling guardrails.
• Develop internal security standards on top of NIST 800-171; onboarding/offboarding and runbooks.
• Run audits, maintain evidence for compliance contractors, and document processes.
• Manage hardware logistics from Redwood City; shipping, returns, storage.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and vendors; hybrid on-site/remote work balance.
