Job summary

UCLA Extension is seeking cybersecurity instructors to join our instructional team for the Cybersecurity Certificate Program. Instructors will teach in-person on the UCLA Westwood campus and contribute to real-world, hands-on learning experiences.

We are recruiting for instructors who can cover the four core courses in the certificate and related labs, bringing industry experience and a student-centered teaching approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional cybersecurity experience (SOC Analyst, Security Engineer, Penetration Tester, etc.).
• Strong hands-on experience with security tools, frameworks, and methodologies (e.g., NIST CSF, OWASP, MITRE ATT&CK).

Responsibilities

• Teach one or more courses in the Cybersecurity Certificate program.
• Deliver instruction through lectures, demos, labs, and applied exercises.
• Develop or update course materials reflecting current tools and threats.
• Provide timely grading, feedback, and student support.
• Maintain an inclusive learning environment and use Canvas for course administration.

This program prepares adult learners for realworld roles in security operations, network defense, cloud security, and threat analysis. We are looking for instructors who bring strong industry experience, handson skills, and a passion for teaching.

This recruitment is for instructors who can teach any of the four core courses in the Cybersecurity Certificate.

Job Description

Cybersecurity instructors at UCLA Extension are working professionals who translate realworld experience into practical, applied learning. Instructors teach one or more courses, develop engaging handson activities, support diverse learners, and maintain high academic and professional standards.

Instructors must be able to teach in person on the UCLA Westwood campus.

Instructor Duties

Teach one or more courses within the Cybersecurity Certificate.

Deliver instruction through lectures, demonstrations, labs, and applied exercises.

Create or update course materials to reflect current tools, threats, and industry practices.

Provide timely grading, feedback, and student support.

Maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment for adult learners.

Use UCLA Extension's learning management system (Canvas) for course administration.

Collaborate with program staff on curriculum updates and instructional quality.

Participate in instructor onboarding and periodic faculty meetings.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications
