Job summary

RedSky seeks an experienced Cybersecurity Exercise Planner to join our DoD customer’s Exercise Team at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL. The role develops and synchronizes exercise programs, plans, and directives using JPP, JELC, and related DoD processes to support cyber defense training.

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years as a Joint Exercise Planner with USCENTCOM experience, TS/SCI clearance, and strong briefing skills to senior military and civilian leaders across the DoD.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing, planning, organizing and executing multi-agency exercises.
  • Ability to brief senior leaders (military and civilian) and conduct trainings.
  • Familiarity with Joint Planning Process, Joint Exercise Life Cycle, and exercise doctrine.
  • Proficient in DoD 8140/8570 information assurance requirements.
  • Experience coordinating at Combatant Command or Service Component level exercises.

  • Monitor policies and create after-action reports and lesson-learned materials.
  • Oversee cybersecurity planning in exercise support plans for USCENTCOM exercises.
  • Collaborate to synchronize exercise requirements across the community of interest.
  • Plan Demonstrations and TTXs, ROC drills and seminars.
  • Collaborate with planning elements to set objectives and priorities.

RedSky is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Exercise Planner to work within our DoD customer’s Directorates Exercise Team within to develop and synchronize support to the exercise programs. Responsibilities
  • Apply a broad understanding of how to organize diverse groups to build a shared understanding of complex challenges.
  • Facilitate collective problem-solving, analysis, and implementation of new solutions and best practices.
  • Develop exercise plans and directives through the application of operational art and operational design, and by using the Joint Planning Process (JPP) through the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC).
  • Provide input to briefings, transition concepts to execution, and assist in the coordination of joint operational planning in support of exercises.
  • Provide input to address shortfalls, prioritize and validate requirements, and modify planning efforts based on the changing Cyberspace environment.
  • Monitor and review strategies, doctrine, policies, directives, and instructions for education and training from higher echelon headquarters and make recommendations to ensure compliance and consideration in planning efforts and directed wargames as required.
  • Author meeting notes, after action reports, exercise support products, and other artifacts to support Exercise Team and FUOPS Branch requirements.
  • Conduct in-depth research as needed to support specific exercise operations, lessons learned, and newly developed tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) used in the development of MSEL or simulation control injects that accurately replicates the operating environment the training is designed to support.
  • Provides for and oversees cybersecurity planning and expertise in the development of exercise support plans in USCENTCOM exercises.
  • Working with staff at all levels to ensure exercise procedures and after-action lessons learned requirements are met.
  • Coordinates and develops after action reports that meet exercise requirements.
  • Participate in working groups, conferences, and meetings to support unit exercise requirements and ensure synchronization across the community of interest.
  • Plan for demonstrations and Tabletop Exercises (TTXs), Rehearsal of Concept (ROC) drills and seminars.
  • Collaborating with exercise planning elements to establish objectives, priorities, and plans for joint exercise programs.
Required Skills/Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience with guiding as a Joint Exercise Planner.
  • 2+ years of experience in the USCENTCOM AOR.
  • Experience with leading or materially contributing to the design, planning, organization, and execution of Combatant Command or Service-Component level Command Post Exercises, Staff Exercises, or Field Training Exercises.
  • Knowledge of Exercise Coordination and Exercise Design
  • Experience with briefing and delivering training to senior military and civilian leaders, both U.S. and foreign.
  • Experience with exercise planning at the Service Component or Combatant Command level.
  • Familiarization with project management processes and principles.
  • Knowledge of the Joint Training Program (JTP) and JELC doctrine and processes.
  • Advanced Service Planner Certification, including SAMS, SAASS, or JAWS Certifications.
  • Familiarization in use of information platforms such as Microsoft, SharePoint, OneBrief, PCTE, Joint Training Program, and/or Advana a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in computer science, engineering, or a related field of study and at least 8 years of experience.
  • Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification
