Job summary

Children's National Medical Center is seeking an Information Security Engineer 1 to support the IT security mission. The role entails engineering of cybersecurity applications and systems to ensure compliance with IT standards, plus configuration, testing, monitoring and troubleshooting to meet performance and functional requirements.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 1+ year(s) of cybersecurity engineering experience, with strong communication skills and knowledge

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of cybersecurity engineering experience.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity practices, controls, and frameworks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to convey risk to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Understanding of cybersecurity applications and systems including network devices, firewalls, asset management tools, access management systems, and Active Directory.
• Understanding of systems engineering principles including requirements, design, testing, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Participate in analysis and documentation of cybersecurity system performance.
• Operate, monitor, and analyze cybersecurity applications and systems.
• Assist in testing and deployment of cybersecurity systems (firewalls, analysis tools, access management, vulnerability management).
• Respond to system failures with recovery procedures.
• Report key metrics for cybersecurity systems.
