Job summary

Trident Systems seeks an entry-level Cybersecurity Engineer to support IRAD initiatives, identify cybersecurity requirements, assess risk on prototype systems, and implement practical security controls across Linux, Windows, and cloud environments.

The role emphasizes applying DoD cybersecurity frameworks, communicating risks, and growing into broader security engineering responsibilities under senior staff guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• CompTIA Security+ certification required.
• 1+ years in cybersecurity, IA, security compliance, or related work.
• Knowledge of DoD RMF processes and NIST SP 800-53 controls.
• Experience reviewing DISA STIG findings and vulnerability scans (ACAS/Nessus).
• Familiarity with cloud/virtualized environments (AWS/Azure/VMware).
• Scripting or data analysis skills, preferably Python.

Responsibilities

• Incorporate cybersecurity requirements into system concepts, architectures, development, integration and test activities.
• Review prototype architectures, data flows and configurations to identify security risks and mitigations.
• Map RMF, NIST SP 800-53, DISA STIG, and CUI requirements to prototype systems and document controls.
• Analyze vulnerability results and coordinate remediation with engineers.
• Validate security settings across Linux, Windows, cloud and virtualization environments.
• Develop cybersecurity artifacts: risk assessments, control matrices, POAs/Ms, test results, diagrams.
• Support cybersecurity testing and incident analysis; document findings and assist with triage.
• Present security risks and mitigations to leadership; help prepare IRAD solutions for transitions.
• Use Python or scripting to automate security checks and improve reporting.
• Collaborate with engineers, admins, and product teams; may support on-site travel.
• Create security reports, procedures, control mappings, and diagrams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
