Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory seeks a Cybersecurity Engineer to develop, evaluate, and transition technologies strengthening critical infrastructure security and resilience. Your work spans OT/ICS, cyber-physical systems, and AI-enabled defense within a cross-disciplinary team.

You will prototype solutions, work with mission stakeholders, and move capabilities from lab demonstrations to operational environments, with opportunities for advanced research and publications.

Qualifications

• PhD or near completion in cybersecurity, CS, engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency in Python or other languages; experience with Linux workflows.
• Experience with offensive cyber capability development and IP networking knowledge.
• Ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Hands-on cybersecurity experience with OT/ICS/cyber-physical systems.

Responsibilities

• Research, prototype, and evaluate cybersecurity technologies for critical infrastructure.
• Collaborate with sponsors and stakeholders to translate mission needs into technical solutions.
• Build and evaluate capabilities across software, networks, embedded devices, and ICS/OT environments.
• Analyze protocols, software, hardware, and system architectures to identify vulnerabilities.
• Conduct cyber test & evaluation, adversary emulation, and vulnerability research.
• Develop cyber situational awareness and AI-enabled capabilities; assess performance and risks.
