Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices. We seek a Software Engineer II – Cybersecurity & Encryption to design, implement, and maintain secure software for government and mission-critical programs.

You will develop cryptographic capabilities, authentication and key management, and work across teams to ensure compliance with rigorous security requirements while delivering high-performing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; cybersecurity certifications are a plus.
• Minimum 4 years of professional software engineering experience with a security focus.
• Experience with cryptographic libraries, encryption protocols, or secure communications.
• Experience in Linux/Unix environments and secure coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain secure software applications for mission-critical programs.
• Implement cryptographic algorithms and secure communications protocols.
• Develop authentication, authorization, access control, and key management capabilities.
• Perform secure code reviews and remediation for identified risks.
• Support security compliance activities and document required technical controls.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on findings from security assessments.
• Participate in the full SDLC including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
• Develop well-structured, maintainable code using modern languages and tools.
• Support integration with hardware security technologies and encrypted systems.
• Contribute to technical documentation and security assessments.
• Support DevSecOps initiatives and automated security testing.
• Research emerging cybersecurity threats and cryptographic technologies.
