Job summary

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company seeks a Cyber Operations Professional to design and operate security data engineering foundations, ingest telemetry, and ensure scalable, governed lakehouse data for detections and investigations.

Role involves incident response leadership, threat hunting, vulnerability management, and collaboration with architecture, governance, and cyber teams in a hybrid office setting.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate studies in cyber security, MIS, engineering, math, computer science, data analytics or comparable experience and education strongly preferred.
• Six years in technology, with four years in cyber security.
• Experience with Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems, scripting, and security tooling.

Responsibilities

• Leads or responds to complex cyber incidents using industry recognized methodology (PICERL).
• Creates uplift of cyber security detection and alerts for ongoing threat prevention.
• Applies secure software and systems engineering practices to protect data and systems.
• Uses automation and orchestration to improve handling of cyber security events.
• Manages vulnerability management via tools, processes, and proactive identification of vulnerabilities.
• Plans and conducts team activities to enrich detection and prevention controls.
• Plans and delivers proactive cyber activities (purple teaming, threat hunting, red teaming) with MITRE ATT&CK framework.
• Identifies critical log sources and system events for detections.
• Maintains awareness of current cyber threat landscape for protection.
