Job summary

The City of St. Charles is seeking a highly skilled IT leader to drive cybersecurity and compliance across City operations, safeguarding essential public services and data. The role collaborates across departments to foster a security-first culture and align with industry standards.

You will implement risk-based controls, lead awareness programs, manage vendor relationships, and support after-hours incident response as part of a dynamic public-sector security program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in cybersecurity, computer science, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in cybersecurity, compliance, or information security.
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CCSP preferred or equivalent.
• Familiarity with CIS Controls, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CSA/CCM; risk methods incl. NIST 800-39, ISO 27005.

Responsibilities

• Lead cybersecurity and risk management efforts for City operations.
• Develop and maintain compliance with security frameworks and regulations; assist in audits.
• Lead security awareness and training for City staff; communicate risks to leadership.
• Coordinate security initiatives with IT and City departments; manage security vendors.
