Job summary

Tampa Electric Company is offering a Student Internship in Cybersecurity at our Bearss Operations Center in Lutz, FL. The internship targets college students pursuing cybersecurity or information technology degrees and provides hands-on experience within our IT Security Department.

You will monitor security tools daily, assist with root-case analyses, contribute to threat metrics, and support Identity & Access Management initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited university in a related field.
• Minimum GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; co-op enrollment required.
• Pursuing Cybersecurity or Information Technology degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily monitoring of IT security tools and applications.
• Complete root cause analysis (RCAs) documentation and assist investigations as needed.
• Assist with the documentation of key cyber security performance and threat/risk metrics
• Collect and present computer/network-related evidence in support of network vulnerability mitigation
• Assist with server and network review for current vulnerabilities/patching and AV signature aging
• Document and update security processes and desk-level procedures for daily operations.
• Assist on projects as necessary that support the maturity of the IT Security Department.
• Assist with daily tasks associated with Identity & Access Management
