Job summary

Koniag Data Solutions, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, seeks a Cybersecurity Architect to support SBA in Washington, DC. This senior role demands the ability to obtain a Public Trust and lead enterprise security architecture across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.

You will drive RMF/ATO, threat modeling, security policy, and Zero Trust initiatives, collaborating with SBA teams to modernize security while maintaining compliance with federal standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a cybersecurity architecture or senior security engineering role with enterprise-level responsibility.
• Experience designing and implementing cybersecurity architectures for complex federal government IT environments, including multi-system, multi-domain, and hybrid cloud.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISM, SABSA, GIAC GDSA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain SBA's enterprise cybersecurity architecture and provide architectural direction.
• Design security architectures for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments and integrate controls throughout SDLC.
• Advise SBA IT leadership on cybersecurity architecture, threats, and investments.
• Create ADRs, architecture patterns, data flow diagrams, and long-term security roadmaps.
• Evaluate security technologies and prepare business cases for investments.
• Collaborate with architects, owners, developers, and acquisition teams to implement security requirements.
• Provide guidance on Zero Trust and align with M-22-09 and CISA guidance.
• Lead RMF/ATO processes, SSPs, risk assessments, and POA&Ms per NIST guidelines.
• Assess emerging tech (cloud, AI, containerization, APIs) for security implications.
• Oversee security reviews, identify gaps, and develop remediation roadmaps.
• Develop threat models using MITRE ATT&CK, STRIDE, and PASTA.
• Coordinate with SOC and incident response teams to strengthen security posture.
• Develop and enforce SBA security policies and baselines.
• Deliver briefings and architecture documentation to SBA leadership & oversight bodies.
• Mentor mid-level security architects and grow internal capabilities.
