Job Description

Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a highly motivated Cybersecurity Analyst to join the Unclassified Systems Infrastructure (USI) Information Technology (IT) team. In this role, you will secure and monitor our IT environment, assess and mitigate cyber risks, implement and improve security controls, and work closely with technical and business stakeholders to safeguard critical systems and data. You will be part of a team of skilled IT professionals who partner with engineers to maintain the network infrastructure that supports the design, development, and testing of naval nuclear propulsion instrumentation and control systems for the U.S. Navy. Additionally, this role will contribute to the ongoing expansion of our IT environment and the integration of new technologies that advance our organization's digital transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
  • Support various Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities and assist with the creation, maintenance, and management of related documentation.
  • Perform network security audits and evaluate system security configurations to ensure effectiveness and compliance with internal policies and external requirements.
  • Monitor security technologies and system logs to detect, identify, and alert on potential attacks, intrusions, anomalous behavior, and misuse, distinguishing malicious from benign activity.
  • Ensure IT systems and cybersecurity plans, controls, processes, standards, and procedures align with approved cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support and contribute to security awareness and training programs to promote secure behaviors and adherence to cybersecurity policies.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including shipyards, Naval Reactors, BPMI, and cross-department partners, to support the continued growth and expansion of our IT environment.

Job Location: This position is available at either the Knolls or Bettis site.

Required Combination Of Knowledge And Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Pay Range

$86,100.00 - $134,600.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. We rely on the dedication and innovation of our nearly 8000 engineers, scientists, technicians, and support personnel.
