Job summary

Burnsville-Eagan-Savage District 191 is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to design, implement, and maintain security tools for district technology assets. The role supports incident response, vulnerability management, and security awareness training in a school environment.

The position emphasizes real-time monitoring, documentation, and proactive risk reduction, with potential after-hours shifts as needed to protect users and data across district networks and endpoints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; substantial work experience may substitute.
• Associate degree in Cybersecurity or related field with 5 years of experience may be considered.
• 3–5 years of hands-on cybersecurity operations, analyst, or engineering experience.
• K-12 or higher education experience is preferred.
• Experience with network security (firewalls, VPNs), endpoint security (EDR/AV), and SIEM tools.
• Knowledge of educational tech platforms (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, SIS) is a plus.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CISSP, or equivalents are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, and maintain cybersecurity tools and infrastructure.
• Enforce security procedures for all district tech assets, including network, servers, and endpoints.
• Lead containment, investigation, remediation, and recovery during security incidents.
• Monitor alerts and logs from SIEM, firewalls, and EDR to detect and respond in real-time.
• Identify and remediate vulnerabilities to reduce the district's attack surface.
• Create and maintain documentation for cybersecurity systems, procedures, and playbooks.
• Develop and deliver cybersecurity awareness training for staff and students.
• Role may require flexible hours and after-hours attendance.
