The University of Chicago’s MANIAC Lab seeks a Cyberinfrastructure Engineer to build and operate advanced cyberinfrastructure for science collaborations such as ATLAS. You will manage Linux compute clusters, storage, and GPU infrastructure across campus data centers, connecting researchers to the OSG and AI service platforms.

You will work with HTCondor, Kubernetes, Ceph, and GitOps tooling (Flux), deploying containerized services and maintaining monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics or related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in Linux systems, large-scale storage, and distributed computing.
• Experience with Ceph storage, Kubernetes, GitOps workflows, and containerized deployments.

Responsabilidades

• Operate Linux compute clusters (CPU/GPU), storage, and related servers for ATLAS production and analysis.
• Administer Ceph storage (Rook on Kubernetes) and monitor health with Prometheus/Grafana.
• Install/upgrade OS and software, perform hardware work in data centers, and manage vendor support.
• Develop and operate AI-enabled infrastructure, including MCP gateway and service deployment via Docker/Kubernetes.
• Collaborate across distributed teams and participate in rotation and runbooks.
