Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking a Cyber Software Engineer II in Germantown, MD to design and implement secure tooling for scanning, imaging, and recovery across Linux and Windows. You will translate complex requirements into practical security solutions while collaborating with a team of developers in a high-assurance environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong hands‑on Linux experience, including administration, shell scripting, and tool development in Linux-based environments.
• Working knowledge of Windows administration and scripting.
• Proficiency building automation tools in Python and Bash; familiarity with PowerShell and batch scripting.
• Hands‑on experience with system imaging using PXE, DISM, Clonezilla, or equivalent tools.
• Experience with system installation, remediation, and recovery.
• Experience with source-code security scanning (SAST/SCA) using Fortify, SonarQube, Coverity, or equivalent tools.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain tools and scripts in Python, Bash, and PowerShell to automate scanning, imaging, hardening, remediation, and recovery across Linux and Windows.
• Perform source-code security scanning (SAST/SCA) using tools such as Fortify, SonarQube, Coverity, or equivalent.
• Build, harden, deploy, and recover Windows and Linux system images using PXE, DISM, Clonezilla, or equivalent tools.
• Support system installation, remediation, and recovery.
• Run vulnerability scans, such as Nessus, and drive remediation to closure.
• Document tooling, procedures, and recovery runbooks.
