Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Cyber Security Specialist with a focus on system security assessment and authorization. The candidate will collaborate with developers and designers to ensure robust security practices during the software development lifecycle and maintain compliance with security policies and regulations. GovCIO aims to transform government IT by delivering technology-related innovations that improve governmental operations every day. This position will be fully remote based in the United States with core hours of operation from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM ET.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts security assessments and authorization of information systems in accordance with governmental regulations and standards.

  • Develops and maintains security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSP), Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMs), Business Impact Analyses (BIA), Information Security Contingency Plans (ISCP), Configuration Management Plans (CMP), etc.

  • Evaluates security controls and identifies potential vulnerabilities within software and systems, providing mitigation strategies and recommendations.

  • Collaborates with development teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle, ensuring secure software design and implementation.

  • Performs continuous monitoring and assessment of systems to ensure ongoing compliance and security posture.

  • Assists with incident response activities and supports efforts to remediate identified vulnerabilities in software and systems.

  • Stays current with emerging security trends, vulnerabilities, and technologies to ensure up-to-date security measures are in place.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience (or commensurate experience).

  • Experience in the Healthcare IT field.

  • Intermediate proficiency in the major Microsoft Office Suite of tools.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Certified in one or more Cyber Security disciplines, such as but not limited to CISSP, Security+, CISA, CISM, SSCP, etc.

  • Familiarity with NIST 800-53 and Risk Management Framework (RMF).

  • Knowledge of system security assessment tools and methodologies.

  • Veteran Affairs experience preferred

Clearance Required:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust/Suitability VA clearance.

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $65,000.00 - USD $68,000.00 /Yr.
