We are seeking a mid-level Cyber Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. The ideal candidate will have experience and the ability to excel in a fast-paced government contractor environment.
Overview
The mid-level Cyber Engineer will collaborate with other engineers on multiple complex projects, applying their expertise to enhance cybersecurity measures and systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform systems engineering activities related to cybersecurity, including Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment & Authorization (A&A) per DoDI 8510.01
- Conduct cryptographic System Security Engineering (SSE) in line with NSA requirements
- Define security requirements, architecture, and design for embedded and large-scale DoD space and ground control systems
- Apply risk management to mitigate vulnerabilities in security architectures
- Coordinate with Space Force, stakeholders, and contractors on cybersecurity and cryptographic requirements
- Support cybersecurity integration for space and ground networks
- Participate in verification and validation of cybersecurity requirements
- Plan and schedule cybersecurity efforts for RMF, including impact analysis for confidentiality, integrity, and availability, following CNSSI 1253 and NIST 800-53 standards
- Contribute to the Program Protection Plan and identify Critical Program Information (CPI)/Critical Components (CC)
- Assist in cybersecurity strategy development and milestone approvals
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
- At least 2 years of experience in System Engineering Architecture/Design
- At least 2 years of experience in Information Assurance (IA)/Cyber Security
- Understanding of Systems Engineering throughout the system lifecycle
- Knowledge of modern computing architectures, including CI/CD, microservices, cloud, and containers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Background in software design
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DoD programs
- Proficiency with RMF processes
- Knowledge of Cybersecurity IV&V, NIST 800-53, CNSSI 1253, Network Engineering, and Security Testing & Evaluation
- TS/SCI clearance
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science; master's preferred
- Additional degrees or certifications in IA/Cybersecurity are a plus
