Role DescriptionThis is a full-time remote role for a Cyber Security Engineer at Ochsner Health, primarily focusing on endpoint security. The Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the security of the organization’s information systems, conducting vulnerability assessments, implementing network and application security measures, and supporting the endpoint security framework. The role will also require familiarity with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools to enhance the organization’s cybersecurity posture.
Responsibilities- Endpoint Security: Manage and maintain endpoint security solutions to ensure the protection of the organization's network from potential threats.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and identify endpoint risks to strengthen security protocols.
- Provide installation, support, and maintenance of endpoint security devices.
- Integrate and monitor endpoint security systems with existing SIEM and EDR tools for real-time threat detection and response.
- Coordinate multiple projects, including personnel and resource management, documentation, and reporting.
- Provide Level III Network Server and Infrastructure Support, coordinating activities with PC Support staff.
- Develop and promote standards, policies, and procedures governing the use and management of technology systems, particularly related to endpoint security.
- Participate in training, professional development, and quality improvement initiatives related to endpoint security and threat mitigation.
- Address other related duties as required.
Education- Required: High School diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Additional degrees, business training experience, and/or certifications may be combined to meet minimum qualifications.
Work Experience- Required:
- 2 years of IT experience with a Master's degree
- 4 years of IT experience with a Bachelor's degree
- 6 years of IT experience with an Associate’s degree
- 8 years of IT experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)- Proficiency with endpoint security solutions and a deep understanding of various security protocols for managing endpoint devices.
- Familiarity with SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) and EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) tools such as Splunk, CrowdStrike, Carbon Black, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to assess security risks, vulnerabilities, and potential threats.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and relevant software packages specific to the role.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments.
- Ability to work under pressure, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
- Willingness to travel occasionally out of town and flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and extended shifts when necessary.
- Ability to work effectively with frequent changes in priorities and multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications- Cybersecurity, Network Security, and Information Security skills, with a focus on endpoint security.
- Experience in vulnerability assessment and incident response.
- Familiarity with SIEM and EDR platforms.
- Knowledge of Application Security.
- Certifications (favorable):
- CompTIA Security+ (Sec+)
- CompTIA Network+ (Net+)
- CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+)
- SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, particularly in the area of endpoint security and threat mitigation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
