Job summary

The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) is hiring a Cyber Security Analyst Level II to join its IT Services Division. You will help implement cybersecurity policies, monitor threats, and support security operations across on-prem and cloud environments in a fast‑paced public sector setting.

The ideal candidate has a degree in cyber security or related field and hands‑on experience with incident response, threat detection, and regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 24 credits in cyber security, network security, computer science, or a related area; or
• Three years of satisfactory experience in these areas if no degree; or
• Education/experience equivalencies per NYC guidelines, including relevant credits or certificates.

Responsibilities

• Assist DoTSS in liaising with the NYC Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) to mitigate security threats in a timely manner.
• Respond to alerts and events that could threaten the Agency’s information security posture.
• Characterize and analyze network traffic to identify anomalous activity and potential threats.
• Complete patching on workstations, servers and network equipment.
• Analyze malicious activity to determine means and details of exploitation.
• Coordinate with OTI for safe use of software and ensure SDLC security accreditation.
• Guide ITOPS in reimaging/restoring devices after incidents.
• Follow up on incident reports and app scan results to ensure proper mitigation.
• Conduct network monitoring and threat detection across on‑prem and cloud environments.
