Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Cyber Range Network Engineer to guide the definition, implementation, and delivery of capability-focused cyber training systems. You will support large-scale exercises and multi-spectrum cyber operations, applying your networking, security, and virtualization expertise.

You will collaborate with cyber operators, architects, and customers to translate training goals into actionable environments and ensure successful event execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or similar, 8+ years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Experience with JETC in training events is preferred.
  • Knowledge of network design, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows systems, networks, and protocols (HTTP/HTTPS/SSL/TLS/SMTP/DNS).
  • Experience with network ACLs, Cisco switching, and WAN/LAN technologies.
  • Experience with MS Active Directory and NSX-T virtualization.
  • Experience with security monitoring platforms like Splunk or Security Onion.
  • Experience with IdM/LDAP and SSO technologies.
  • Experience with AWS/Azure cloud environments.
  • Active TS clearance with TS/SCI eligibility and conforming certifications (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, CISSP).

Responsibilities

  • Plan operations to support training, exercises, and coordinated cyber ops.
  • Provide network admin support for development, deployment, and issue remediation.
  • Support large-scale cyber exercises and multi-spectrum operations (defensive and offensive).
  • Collaborate with cyber operators to enable DCO/OCO for Cyber Command.
  • Translate training goals into actionable event environments.
  • Design and execute cyber range training events.
  • Offer expertise in architecture, virtualization, networking, authentication, and security.
  • Coach junior staff and review their work.
  • Improve processes across training event activities.
  • Engage stakeholders on requirement changes affecting training environments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for operational planning in support of training, exercises, operations, and coordination of integrated cyber operations.
  • Provide network administration support for development, deployment, and problem identification and remediation of the enterprise network environment.
  • Support large scale cyber exercises and multi-spectrum cyber operations, both defensive and offensive activities.
  • Work with cyber operators and provide cyber range expertise to enable DCO and OCO operations for Cyber Command.
  • Translate cyber mission force training and mission rehearsal goals into actionable event environments.
  • Support the design and execution of cyber range training events.
  • Provide expertise in architecture, virtual environments, networking, authentication, and system security.
  • Coach and review the work of lower-level technical staff.
  • Focus on continuous process improvement across the training event activities.
  • Work with stakeholders (customer, users, developers, vendors) on requirement changes that impact the training environment.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or similar, and eight (8) or more years of experience in a relevant field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with or knowledge of the 5 stages of joint event life cycle (JETC) as it applies to training events.
  • Experience with Network Hardware Design and Configuration, Network Troubleshooting, and Network Performance Tuning.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows, network administration, and networking protocols/functions (e.g., HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, SMTP, DNS).
  • Experience with configuring, managing, and implementing network access control Lists.
  • Experience with Cisco switching and WAN/LAN technologies
  • Experience with MS Active Directory and VMWare NSX-T virtual networking.
  • Experience with security monitoring platforms, such as Security Onion or Splunk.
  • Worked with Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) and Single Sign-On (SSO) technologies using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).
  • Experience with commercial cloud infrastructure deployment environments such as AWS and Azure.
  • Self-starter who can work independently in a fast-paced environment while working effectively with engineers and customers.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and requirements from stakeholders.
  • Security Clearance requirement: Active Top Secret with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI level clearance.
  • Certification Requirement: IAT Level II/II Certifications such as Security +, CCNA Security, CISSP or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiar with configuring network devices utilizing Python and Ansible.
  • Experience with enterprise network management tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco Smartnet, Splunk, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with MS Exchange and Edge Transport servers.
  • Knowledge of routing protocols, such as BGP & OSPF, and route maps.
  • Experience with DNS servers to include queries, mail exchange and name records.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to interface with customers, leadership, and teammates.
  • Four or more years of experience with cyber training and cyber operations.
