Job summary

Lafayette Group Inc. seeks a Cyber Intel Specialist - Senior Associate to provide advanced consulting on federal cybersecurity programs. You will translate complex cyber threat intel into actionable guidance for diverse audiences and support strategic planning with executives and CI partners.

The role requires TS/SCI eligibility, U.S. citizenship, and on-site presence in Arlington, VA 3–5 days per week. Candidates should have 6+ years of experience and strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Cyber Intel Specialist - Senior Associate
Job Summary:

Lafayette Group is seeking experienced professionals to provide advanced consulting support for federal cybersecurity programs. The Cyber Intel Specialist will help transform complex cyber threat intelligence into actionable products, strategic insights, and stakeholder-facing communications that support coordinated cyber defense efforts across government and critical infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will apply expertise in cyber threat intelligence, threat actor analysis, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity operations to support product development, stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, and collaborative planning efforts. This role requires the ability to bridge technical cybersecurity information and operational decision-making, ensuring that cyber intelligence is translated into timely, relevant, and actionable guidance for diverse audiences. The ideal candidate combines strong cyber intelligence expertise with exceptional communication, analytical, and consulting skills.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide expertise related to cyber threat intelligence, threat actor analysis, cyber operations, and emerging cyber threats.
  • Analyze cyber threat reporting, intelligence products, operational data, and open-source information to identify relevant trends and implications.
  • Perform analysis on active cyber incidents, events and vulnerabilities to provide guidance and targeted recommendations for mitigation.
  • Translate technical cyber intelligence into actionable content tailored for executive, operational, and technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with government, industry, and critical infrastructure stakeholders to identify information needs and support coordinated cyber defense efforts.
  • Conduct research on emerging threats, adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), ransomware trends, vulnerabilities, and evolving cyber risks.
  • Assist with mapping technical insights on cyber threats to frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK and other cyber frameworks.
  • Support the translation of strategic products into clear, practical formats that are tailored to the specific needs and operational constraints of different stakeholder groups, including large and small jurisdictions and critical infrastructure (CI) partners.
  • Assist in the tailoring of vulnerability mitigation recommendations and contextualized examples to stakeholders to address implementation challenges and encourage rapid adoption.
  • Develop briefing materials, white papers, analytical reports, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Intelligence Studies, Information Systems, Computer Science, National Security Studies, Political Science, or related field.
  • 6+ years of professional experience supporting cyber threat intelligence, cyber operations, intelligence analysis, cybersecurity programs, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing cyber threat actors, TTPs, malware campaigns, vulnerabilities, or emerging cyber threats.
  • Strong understanding of current cyber threats/exploits, attack methodology, and detection techniques using a wide variety of security products including COTS and open source.
  • Strong understanding of computer and network fundamentals; working understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, vulnerabilities, encryption, etc.
  • Experience defining data sources and writing detection rules for discovering malicious behavior.
  • Possession of excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to remain open-minded, flexible and curious in problem-solving approach.
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical cybersecurity concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines, adhere to project plans, and work on several projects simultaneously; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Active TS security clearance and SCI eligibility; US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain DHS Suitability (EOD).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting DHS, CISA, NSA, FBI Cyber Division, U.S. Cyber Command, intelligence community organizations, or critical infrastructure cybersecurity programs.
  • Experience supporting cyber threat intelligence operations, fusion centers, information sharing organizations, or collaborative defense initiatives.
  • Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, STIX/TAXII, Diamond Model, Cyber Kill Chain, or other threat intelligence frameworks.
  • Experience developing cybersecurity advisories, alerts, intelligence products, or threat briefings.
  • Experience conducting cyber threat hunting, malware analysis, vulnerability analysis, or threat research.
  • Familiarity with commercial threat intelligence platforms and cyber intelligence reporting tools.
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder engagements, working groups, or information-sharing forums.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, GCTI, GCIA, GCIH, Security+, CISM, or related cybersecurity certifications.
  • Experience supporting strategic communications, product development, or customer engagement efforts within cybersecurity organizations.
  • Familiarity with at least one scripting language such as Python, and capable of manipulating data, interfacing with APIs, automating repetitive tasks, etc.
Location:

Arlington, VA - on site 3 to 5 days per week

Federal Contracts:

This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers on the contract to be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $115,000
