Job summary

Markel in the United States seeks an experienced Associate Underwriting Manager to lead a team of commercial production underwriters and drive execution of strategic goals in Cyber and E&O. The role reports to the Regional Product Leader or Director/Sr.

Director of Cyber/E&O and partners with Product Line Leadership to advance performance. Candidates should have 5–10 years in cyber/tech/E&O underwriting, proven people management skills, and a track record of sound underwriting decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5–10 years of cyber/tech/E&O underwriting.
• Demonstrated aptitude to manage people and projects.
• Proven ability to make sound underwriting decisions.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to achieve business goals and objectives.
• Demonstrated sales, marketing and relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to underwriting guidelines as delegated by Product Line Leadership.
• Execute distribution strategy as provided by Product Line Leadership.
• Responsible for goals and metrics for region and assigned product line group.
• Support sales and marketing of product.
• Recruit, train, develop and mentor underwriting talent.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships across workgroups.
• Evaluate procedures to improve workflows and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Maintain understanding of assigned product(s) and coordinate with other workgroups.
• Drive change and implement transformational solutions for customers and associates.
