Job summary

The State of Montana's Department of Administration, through SITSD, seeks a Cyber Defense Analyst to monitor the NOSC, defend the state's network, and provide 1st and 2nd level network and security support from the Helena Data Center. Training and certification pathways are offered.

This role starts with shared duties and will evolve into a dedicated SOC security monitoring position as IT centralization progresses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in networking or cybersecurity or a related field is required.
• Two years of IT-related experience is preferred.
• Certification within a year of hire is desirable; training is provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Monitor State network and Data Center systems for performance and security incidents.
• Provide 1st and 2nd level network and security support to ensure continuous operations.
• Serve as the first line of defense against cyber threats and participate in incident response planning.
