Overview
LMI seeks a Cyber Architect to support the Army Training Information System (ATIS), a PEO EIS program focused on modernizing Army training infrastructure through secure, scalable, and cloud-enabled systems. The Cyber Architect will lead the design and integration of enterprise cybersecurity architecture across legacy systems and cloud-based platforms, ensuring security-by-design principles are embedded in all phases of system development and sustainment. This role bridges technical expertise with strategic vision to align ATIS systems with DoD cybersecurity policies and mission requirements. This position requires U.S. citizenship and active Secret clearance.
LMI is a consultancy dedicated to powering a future-ready, high-performing government, drawing from expertise in digital and analytic solutions, logistics, and management advisory services. We deliver integrated capabilities that incorporate emerging technologies and are tailored to customers' unique mission needs, backed by objective research and data analysis. Founded in 1961 to help the Department of Defense resolve complex logistics management challenges, LMI continues to enable growth and transformation, enhance operational readiness and resiliency, and ensure mission success for federal civilian and defense agencies.
Responsibilities
Design and maintain the overarching cybersecurity architecture across the ATIS portfolio, including both legacy and modernized systems.
- Develop security reference architectures, solution blueprints, and design standards in alignment with Army and DoD cyber frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST 800-53, Zero Trust).
- Collaborate with system engineers, developers, ISSOs, and cloud architects to ensure implementation of secure system designs across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud (IL5/IL6) environments.
- Lead architectural reviews of new capabilities, major system changes, and cloud migration strategies with a focus on risk mitigation and control implementation.
- Ensure security architecture supports compliance with RMF, FISMA, FedRAMP, and DISA STIG requirements.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks for applicability to ATIS cybersecurity posture and modernization goals.
- Provide guidance and technical leadership on integration of DevSecOps pipelines, secure coding practices, and automated security control validation.
- Interface with government stakeholders, including PdM ATIS, PEO Enterprise, Army Cyber Command, and third-party assessors, to present architectural approaches and resolve issues.
- Support development of cybersecurity strategies and roadmaps aligned to ATIS cloud and modernization objectives.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of cybersecurity experience, with at least 5 years focused on system or enterprise architecture.
- Demonstrated experience designing security architecture for DoD systems, including eMASS/RMF ATO efforts.
- Active 8140 certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM) required.
- Strong understanding of DoD cloud security (AWS GovCloud, Azure IL5/IL6), Zero Trust, and hybrid architectures.
- Proficiency with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST 800-53, NIST 800-207 (Zero Trust), and DoD Cloud SRG.
- Familiarity with Agile development, DevSecOps principles, and secure system lifecycle planning.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- U.S. citizenship and active Secret clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in cybersecurity, systems engineering, or a related field.
- DoD Top Secret clearance or SCI eligibility.
- Experience supporting Army PMOs, PEO EIS, or related DoD acquisition programs.
- Background in secure cloud migration strategies and Continuous ATO implementations.
- Experience integrating security tools into Agile CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of training and education systems or prior experience with the ATIS mission.
