Job summary

L.B. Foster Company is seeking a welder to cut and join mild or stainless materials and operate welding equipment for assembly of structures.

You will join components in various positions and ensure surfaces are prepared for welding, while maintaining safety and meeting specifications. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a plus for related technical college training and at least 1 year of welding experience in manufacturing or during college.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Technical college degree is a plus for this welder role.
  • At least 1 year of proven welding experience in a manufacturing setting or internship during technical studies.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all safe start meetings and maintain a safe, clean work area.
  • Follow 5S standards for workplace organization.
  • Select appropriate welding equipment and methods per specifications.
  • Set up and align components for welding according to specs.
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic equipment in various positions.
  • Operate angle grinders and other tools to prepare surfaces for welding.
  • Perform pre-operation equipment inspections and report issues.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Job description

As a welder, you are responsible for cutting and joining mild or stainless, and other materials, and equipment operation for assembly of structures.

Essential Functions:
  • Participate in all safe start meetings.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
  • Follow 5S standards to maintain work area.
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on specifications
  • Setup and align components for welding according to specifications
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
  • Operate angle grinders and other tools necessary to prepare the surface to be welded.
  • Complete pre-operation equipment inspections and report any issues identified.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Related degree from a technical college, a plus
  • 1 year of proven experience as a welder in a manufacturing environment, or internship while attending technical college
