Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Social Services seeks a CWS Case Worker Assistant to help remedy abuse, neglect, or self-neglect and support assessment, family preservation, and foster care in Greenville County. You will perform administrative duties, assist with casework tasks, transportation coordination, and participation in shelter or emergency duties as directed.

Responsibilities

• Remedy abuse, neglect, exploitation, or self-neglect of vulnerable individuals and assist with assessment, family preservation, and foster care.
• Perform child welfare administrative services in line with policy and agency practice model.
• Engage families and professionals with empathy and respect.
• Assist with Foster Care/IV-E/Home Studies packets and other admin tasks.
• Arrange transportation to community resources as part of support plans.
• Support child transportation and visitation logistics.
• Maintain self-care routines to minimize secondary trauma risk.
• Support Red Cross shelter or other emergency shelter duties as directed.
• Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor.

Education

Job Duties:

• The CWS Case Worker Assistant provides services to remedy abuse, neglect, exploitations or self-neglect of adults or children unable to protect themselves. Human Services Specialist I will assist Human Services Specialist II's with providing casework services in the area of assessment, family preservation and foster care.
• Performs child welfare administrative services in accordance with DSS Policy, Agency Mission and GPS Practice Model.
• Authentically engages families and other professionals with empathy and respect.
• Assists with the completion of Foster Care Review Board packets, IV-E packets, Home Studies, ICPC packets and other administrative tasks.
• Provides or arranges transportation to resources in the community as a part of social service aide plan.
• Assists with the transportation of children.
• Assists with child and family visitation.
• Maintains an active routine of self-care and pursues support when necessary to minimize the threat of secondary trauma to physical and mental health.
• Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duties/services as directed.
• Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

High School Diploma and one (1) year or more of child welfare relevant program experience.

Associate Degree or higher may be substituted for all or part of the work requirements.
