Job summary

Baker Hughes in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, seeks an AMO Technician to assemble, maintain, test, and prep oilfield equipment for North Slope operations. You will work in a remote Arctic environment, delivering safe, on-time equipment while upholding quality and regulatory requirements.

The role supports drilling, completions, intervention, and production activities, with a 21 days on / 21 days off schedule, 12-hour shifts, and overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of mechanical, industrial, oilfield, maintenance, manufacturing, or related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, procedures, and work instructions.
• Experience with hand tools, precision measuring devices, hydraulic systems, and mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform extended standing, bending, climbing, and manual tasks.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required North Slope certifications and site access requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, disassemble, inspect, and maintain oilfield tools and equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with Baker Hughes procedures and engineering specifications.
• Conduct dimensional inspections, functional testing, pressure testing, torque verification, and equipment certification activities.
• Execute work orders, repair records, and maintenance documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Support loadout and return processing of customer equipment and rental assets.
• Identify and report equipment deficiencies, non-conformances, and reliability concerns.
• Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with all HSE, quality, and operational procedures.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, torque equipment, pressure testing equipment, and other shop machinery as required.
• Support inventory control, cycle counting, and material handling activities.
• Assist with customer equipment preparation to meet critical operational schedules.
• Participate in shift handovers to ensure continuity of operations across rotational crews.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area utilizing 6S principles.
• Support emergency and high-priority operational requests when required.

Position Summary

The AMO Technician is responsible for the assembly, maintenance, repair, inspection, testing, and preparation of Baker Hughes oilfield equipment supporting North Slope operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment is delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with customer, quality, and regulatory requirements. Working in a remote Arctic environment, the AMO Technician must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and operational excellence while supporting drilling, completions, intervention, and production operations.

Essential Responsibilities

Assemble, disassemble, inspect, repair, and maintain oilfield tools and equipment. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with Baker Hughes procedures and engineering specifications. Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to Baker Hughes HSE standards. Stop work whenever unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed. Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Toolbox Talks, and risk assessments. Properly utilize all required PPE and follow Arctic environmental safety requirements. Report all incidents, near misses, and safety observations promptly. Promote an interdependent safety culture focused on protecting personnel, equipment, and the environment.

Quality Responsibilities

Follow all documented AMO procedures, engineering requirements, and quality standards. Ensure equipment is assembled and maintained to specification prior to release. Verify traceability and documentation requirements are complete and accurate. Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives. Maintain a strong focus on first-time quality and operational reliability.

Working Conditions

This position is based in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and requires working in a remote Arctic environment. Employees will work a rotational schedule of 21 days on and 21 days off, including 12-hour shifts with overtime opportunities. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors (minimal) in extreme weather conditions and requires strict adherence to all safety and environmental standards.
