JOB SUMMARY:
The Electro-Mechanical Technician supports assembly, troubleshooting, repair,installation, maintenance, and improvement of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systemsused in shop, laboratories, field support, and production environments. This position requires stronghands-on technical ability, safe work practices, and the capability to troubleshoot equipment issuesinvolving electrical controls, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, production equipment,welding/fabrication, and equipment retrofits.
The role supports operational uptime, new product testing, equipment reliability, and continuousimprovement by assisting with equipment installation, machine rebuilds, preventive maintenance,corrective maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, control panel work, PLC and controls upgrades, andmechanical/hydraulic repairs. This position may support engineering, operations, maintenance, andshop personnel depending on business needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, ROLES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include thefollowing.
Electro-Mechanical Troubleshooting and Repair
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls-related equipment issues.
- Diagnose and repair problems involving motors, switches, sensors, relays, control circuits, actuators,hydraulic components, production machinery, and related equipment.
- Support electrical branch circuitry, control panels, machine wiring, and equipment power issueswithin the employee’s training and authorization.
- Assist with restoring equipment operation after failures, alarms, power loss, or componentmalfunction.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, hydraulic diagrams, equipmentmanuals, and technical documentation.
Equipment Installation, Retrofit, and Rebuild Support
- Assist with installation, removal, relocation, rebuild, and commissioning of shop, laboratory, andproduction equipment.
- Support machinery upgrades involving PLC components, controls retrofits, relay logic, sensors,actuators, and related electrical/mechanical systems.
- Assist engineering and operations teams with shop testing, field testing, prototype support, andequipment improvement projects.
- Fabricate, modify, repair, or fit mechanical components, brackets, guards, fixtures, and assembliesas required.
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks when qualified and authorized.
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipmentadjustments.
- Support reliability and uptime of industrial equipment, test systems, shop machinery, hydraulicpower units, compressors, cranes, and related support equipment.
- Identify equipment deficiencies, worn components, unsafe conditions, and improvementopportunities.
- Document work performed, parts used, issues identified, and corrective actions completed.
- Maintain tools, equipment, work areas, and spare parts in a safe, orderly, and serviceable condition.
Hydraulic, Mechanical, and Shop Support
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, pumps, valves, hoses, cylinders, fittings, and relatedcomponents.
- Assist with assembly and disassembly of mechanical and pressure-control-related equipment asrequired.
- Support fit-up, alignment, adjustment, and verification of mechanical assemblies.
- Use hand tools, power tools, meters, test equipment, hydraulic tools, lifting equipment, and shopequipment safely and properly.
- Provide support to technicians, engineers, and operations personnel during equipment setup,troubleshooting, testing, and repair.
Safety, Quality, and Continuous Improvement
- Practice safe work habits and comply with all quality, safety, health, and environmental policies,procedures, programs, and regulations.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment and follow applicable lockout/tagout, electricalsafety, lifting, hot work, and shop safety requirements.
- Participate in safety training, job hazard analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
- Communicate equipment issues, safety concerns, repair needs, and improvement recommendationsto the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and teamwork while supporting internal customers, shoppersonnel, engineering personnel, and operations personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school, trade school, military technical training, associate degree, or equivalent hands-onexperience in electro-mechanical, industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, controls,or related field preferred.
- Five or more years of industrial maintenance, electro-mechanical, electrical controls, hydraulic,mechanical repair, equipment installation, or related experience preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, oil and gas, pressure control, production equipment, machinerebuilds, facility maintenance, or industrial equipment support preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, productionmachinery, compressors, cranes, automated equipment, or PLC-controlled equipment preferred.
- Welding, fabrication, equipment retrofit, or machine rebuild experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Forklift, overhead crane, rigging, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, hot work, hydraulic safety, orsimilar certifications preferred, as applicable.
- Welding certification preferred but not required.
- Industry or customer-required safety certifications may be required depending on work assignment.
- Additional company-required training may be assigned based on job duties.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability.
- Working knowledge of electrical controls, relay logic, motors, sensors, switches, wiring, controlpanels, and basic industrial electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, mechanical assemblies, equipment maintenance, andindustrial repair practices.
- Ability to use multimeters, hand tools, power tools, hydraulic tools, lifting devices, shop equipment,and basic test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, manuals,work instructions, and equipment documentation.
- Ability to support PLC upgrades, controls retrofits, and equipment improvement projects underengineering or maintenance direction.
- Ability to perform welding, fabrication, fitting, and mechanical modification tasks when qualified.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to proceed with limited supervision after receivingdirection.
- Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work safely in shop, laboratory, production, maintenance, and field-support environments.
- Basic computer skills for work orders, documentation, email, equipment records, and maintenancetracking.
