Job summary

AmeriVet is seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team in Philadelphia. You will obtain patient histories, assist with assessments, and support high-quality care across medical, surgical, and dental services.

In this role, you will restrain patients using low-stress techniques, perform venipuncture and in-house lab work, manage anesthesia prep, and help with radiographs. Collaborative teamwork and patient safety are emphasized in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • Current CVT, LVT, RVT, or equivalent veterinary technician credential.
  • Minimum 2+ years of clinical veterinary experience as a Veterinary Technician (direct patient care).
  • Strong technical, patient-care, communication, and client-service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and willing to assist across departments based on hospital needs.
  • Commitment to patient safety, compassionate care, professionalism, and continued learning.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient histories and assist with patient assessments.
  • Safely restrain and handle patients using low-stress techniques.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, and in-house laboratory testing.
  • Obtain diagnostic radiographs and assist with other diagnostic procedures.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, injections, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Calculate medication dosages and fluid rates accurately.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Prepare and monitor patients for anesthesia, surgery, and recovery.
  • Assist with surgical and dental procedures, including dental radiographs and cleanings as appropriate.
  • Maintain and properly care for medical, surgical, dental, and anesthesia equipment.
