Baptist Medical Center South in Alabama is seeking a CVSU Patient Care Technician for the dayshift on a full-time basis. The PCT will join a patient care team and assist RNs, LPNs, and physicians in routine care tasks.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, nursing assistant training, and BLS certification. The role includes typical patient care duties and adherence to safety standards.

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate from a certified Nursing Assistant Program or a Health Occupations Program (HOSA) preferred.
• Completion of first clinical rotation as a Nurse Student or 1 year of experience in a patient care role in an acute care, nursing home or home care setting preferred.
• BLS required.

Summary

The Patient Care Technician shall serve as a supportive member of the patient care team who will assist in routine and non-complex aspects of patient care. The PCT shall assist RNs, LPN's, and Physicians in the patient care process. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education/Experience

High School graduate or equivalent required. Graduate from a certified Nursing Assistant Program or a Health Occupations Program (HOSA) preferred. Completion of first clinical rotation as a Nurse Student (i.e. completion of 'Nursing Fundamentals' course which includes assistance with Activities of Daily Living, vitals signs etc) or 1 year of experience in a patient care role in an acute care, nursing home or home care setting preferred.

License/Certification

BLS required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety, principles of physical care and comfort.
• Medical terminology training preferred.
• Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Work Conditions/Physical Requirements

Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday.

There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.

There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.

Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds.

There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.

Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.

Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels.

Much exposure to computer work.

Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.

Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.

Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
