Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technician provides specialized technical support in the surgical services department, assisting with cardiovascular and other surgical procedures. This role involves preparing and maintaining the operating room environment, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are ready, and supporting the surgical team throughout procedures. The CVOR Tech must have relevant certifications, strong technical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain the cardiovascular operating room for surgical procedures.
• Ensure all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile and available.
• Assist surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs.
• Perform equipment checks and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with hospital protocols.
• Participate in cleaning and restocking the operating room post-procedure.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and quality care.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing) or NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in surgical services or CVOR setting.
• Ability to work within scope of practice and follow facility protocols.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in a Magnet hospital or Level II Trauma center environment.
• Familiarity with Epic charting system.
• Previous experience in acute hospital surgical services.

Special Considerations:

• On-call weekend coverage is required.
• Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility.
• Time off requests are approved individually with a limit of one per 13-week assignment.
• Traveler may be called off for one 10-hour shift per two-week period.

Scheduling:

• Four 10-hour day shifts per week (4x10 schedule).
• Guaranteed 70 hours per two weeks.
• No block schedule accommodations or floating outside scope of practice.
