Job summary

Banner University Medical Center Phoenix is seeking a CVOR Surgical Technologist Coordinator to lead the Surg-Hosp team during day shifts, handling instrument prep, case carts, and turnover.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and current BLS certification.
• Certified surgical technologist with 1–2 years of experience OR 3–4 years in a surgical technologist role.
• Where applicable must be registered with State Regulatory Agency.
• The position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations.
• The position requires the ability to be conscientious, organized, and orderly and the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the surgeon and patient.
• Must stay abreast of new developments in the field.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for surgical procedures by pulling instruments and supplies and ensuring working order.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs and passes instruments.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique and universal precautions during procedures.
• Ensures accuracy of surgeon preference cards and pick lists; seeks safety improvements.
• Assists with OR turnover and restocking between cases.
• Provides administrative support to the department as needed.
• Oversees supplies, instruments and efficiency; liaises with physicians and supply chain to develop clinical rationale for new products.
