Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, KS is seeking a CVOR Registered Nurse for the operating room. This role offers a $20,000 sign-on bonus for eligible experienced candidates and a comprehensive total rewards package.

Responsibilities include evaluating patients pre-op, educating families, preparing patients (IV therapy, preop meds), and maintaining surgical site verification with the team, while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced OR environment.

Qualifications

• Prior Surgery experience preferred
• Experience in circulating and scrubbing preferred
• If new to the OR prefer 2 years of progressive acute care nursing experience
• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• RN Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team
• Consistently apply nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout shift, and document changes thoroughly
• Educate patients and families about the medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures

We are currently offering a 20,000 Sign On Bonus for experienced CVOR RN. This bonus is for eligible candidates and cannot be combined with other bonuses or HCA loans/scholarships.

Job Summary and Qualifications

• Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for you to have predictability in your schedule


• Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff


• Continuous investment in equipment including surgical instruments, devices and patient positioning for you to do your best work with patient safety and workflow efficiency in the Operating Room


• Rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care and surgical workflow improvement


• On-call is required during select non-business hours

What you will do in this role:

• Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures

What qualifications you will need:
