Job summary

HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital is seeking a dynamic First Assist RN to join our healthcare team. Your primary function is to perform as the surgeon's assistant in the operating room, during evaluations, procedures, care management, and follow-up.

You would be part of a phenomenal team that works hard to support each other while providing excellent care to our patients in a collaborative manner. The role requires an Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing, a current FL RN

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required.
• Current FL RN license; if compact, active FL RN license within 90 days of hire.
• BLS required (American Heart Association).
• CNOR preferred.
• Certification as RNFA preferred.
• Acute care experience required.
• Minimum 5 years previous experience or completion of Perioperative Nursing course required.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance in emergency procedures as well as elective and scheduled cases.
• Serve as a liaison between the surgical team and the patients' families.
• Assess patients before, during, and after surgery and maintain a sterile operating room.
• Perform count procedures to protect patient from unintended retained foreign objects and ensure correct site/side/level.
• Perform interventions to maintain patient systems and balance during perioperative care.
• Involve patient or support person in post perioperative decisions.

Acute care experience

BLS certified

RNFA preferred

CNOR preferred

Florida RN license

Perioperative nursing experience
