Responsibilities

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

This position is responsible for ensuring the CVOR department has all the supplies and instruments necessary for efficient and effective patient care. Maintains inventory of surgical supplies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintains inventory of surgical supplies.
  2. Coordinates the replenishment of OR supplies provided by Sterile Processing, including peel packed instruments.
  3. Communicates with vendors, assists with trials, and facilitates training opportunities of clinical supplies and/or inventory management systems.
  4. Acts as the department resource for compliance-related inventory management concerns, including routine checks for expired supplies and recall process.
  5. Manages the inventory of trays and instruments, including ordering new or replacement items, maintaining count sheets, and addressing surgeon preferences.
  6. Coordinates with Surgery Systems on updating the inventory management system with changes in supplies and any revisions to preference cards.
  7. Coordinates with SPD regarding inventory needs.
  8. May serve in expeditor role to ensure that required equipment and supplies are on hand for scheduled cases; provides assistance with room setup; supports the rapid turnover of surgical procedures.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Other duties as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of clinical experience in a surgical setting.

PREFERRED

  • Previous experience in inventory control.
  • Two (2) years of experience in cardiac surgery.
  • Previous surgical technologist experience.
