AdventHealth in Daytona Beach, FL seeks an experienced Surgical Assistant to provide supportive care during pre-operative phases and assist with patient positioning and transport. You will help maintain a sterile operating room and support instrument counts throughout procedures, contributing to safe turnover times.

The role requires 2+ years of technical experience, BLS, and CSA certification, with a pathway to permanent staff and flexible contract opportunities within AdventHealth facilities.

Qualifications

• A technical or vocational program in a related field is required.
• 2+ years of work experience and 2+ years of technical experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) or State CSA certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patients with supportive care during pre-operative phases.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
• Maintain sterile operating room and assist with turnover times.
• Monitor instrument counts and ensure proper labeling of instruments.
• Assist the surgical team as needed.

Job Details:

• Provides patients with supportive care during pre-operative phases. Collects and labels specimens obtained during surgical procedures. Conducts instrument counts prior to surgical procedures. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients. Conducts field preparation and maintenance. Ensures the operating room is sterile. Monitors and tracks instrument counts throughout procedures. Maintains surgical instruments in an organized manner. Assists the team with safe and efficient operating room turnover times. Other duties as assigned.
