Job summary

NXP is seeking an Equipment Engineer for CVD in a high-volume, 24x7 manufacturing facility. You will analyze equipment performance, drive defect reduction, and collaborate with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Facilities and Device Engineering to ensure reliability and cost competitiveness.

The role requires a BS or MS in engineering or science and 6+ years in semiconductor equipment engineering. Candidates should be able to train technicians and lead improvement projects across multiple tools.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in engineering or science required.
  • 6+ years of equipment engineering in high-volume semiconductor manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with semiconductor process equipment and data analysis.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and reduce sources of variation in tools and processes.
  • Reduce machine faults and defectivity to improve yield.
  • Define and write tool maintenance procedures.
  • Improve tool availability and MTBF; reduce MTTR.
  • Train technicians and peers; support cross-functional teams.

Job Summary

Equipment Engineer responsible for CVD in a high‑volume manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and reduce sources of variation
  • Reduce machine faults
  • Reduce defectivity
  • Define and write tool maintenance procedures
  • Improve tool availability, improve Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
  • Train technicians and peers
  • Improve cost performance
  • Specify, source and qualify new equipment and parts
  • Participate on and/or lead cross‑functional teams
  • Support development and transfer activities
Key Challenges
  • Ability to work in a high volume 24x7 manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work individually, in small work groups or larger teams
  • Ability to deal with multiple issues and shifting priorities
  • Must be self‑motivated; able to take initiative, self‑generate projects, and effectively prioritize work
  • Willing to adjust work schedule as needed to support factory priorities 24x7
  • Be responsible for multiple tools across multiple platforms
Cross Functional Aspects
  • Work with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Facilities, Analytical Lab and Device Engineering Teams
  • Work with peers in other factories to implement Best Known Methods (BKM)
Job Qualifications
  • BS or MS in an engineering or science discipline
  • 6+ years of experience in equipment engineering in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment preferred
  • Previous experience in at least one or more of the following tools is preferred: Applied Materials Centura DXZ, Producer or P5000, Novellus Concept 2, WJ-999
  • Ability to generate, analyze, and interpret equipment and process performance data and produce a timely action plan to resolve recurring failures
  • Demonstrated presentation skills. Candidate will be called upon to train others and present complex datasets and equipment problems/solutions to diverse audiences
  • Competent in troubleshooting problems and capable of applying logic to isolate and repair them
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with manufacturing and equipment engineering to deal with issues and priorities
  • Good foundational problem solving skills with creative solutions and out-of-the-box thinking
  • Self‑motivated; able to take initiative and effectively prioritize work for self
  • A strong desire to help create a positive, winning, world‑class working environment
  • Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing methods is highly desirable
  • Good knowledge of FMEA’s and 8D methodologies is preferred
