Job summary

Sandvik is seeking a Product Design and R&D Engineer to lead the development of cutting tool solutions from concept through commercialization. The role requires 5+ years in product development or related fields and hands-on CAD/CAM experience with metal cutting.

You will collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales to evaluate emerging technologies and bring innovative products to market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (mechanical/manufacturing).
• 5+ years in product development, R&D, manufacturing, or tool design.
• Advanced CAD/CAM knowledge and experience with metal cutting.
• Strong analytical and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of cutting tool products from concept to commercialization.
• Research emerging technologies, materials, coatings, and manufacturing methods.
• Design and optimize carbide tools and related tooling.
• Validate performance through lab and production testing.
• Create test plans, analyze data, and recommend improvements.
• Explore digital engineering tools, AI-driven solutions, and databases.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to transition new products into production.
• Conduct competitive benchmarking and performance studies.
• Support continuous improvement for product performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability.
• Stay aware of market trends and customer requirements.
• Prepare technical reports and product documentation.
• Support end-user activities at customers and machine tool builders.
• Work with design team to optimize processes and procedures.
